In this study, a team of physicians from England analyzed the association between socioeconomic factors and colon cancer tumor factors.
The team conducted an analysis of population-based registry data.

They determined that colon cancer patients from more deprived backgrounds had a lower risk of the mucin-producing adenocarcinoma subtype.
They also had no greater risk of high-grade tumors.
Dr Lyratzopoulos's team concluded, "Tumor factors…appear unlikely to account for socioeconomic gradients in survival".
