Carcinoma of the papilla of Vater.
Local spread from the papilla to the adjacent duodenal wall may cause loss of the normal fold pattern with irregularity (Fig. 4.31) and sometimes ulceration. Diagnosis may be confirmed by cytology or histopathology (Fig. 4.33b).
