Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) : gastric appearances.
FAP may involve the stomach,duodenum, papilla of Vater and small bowel as well as the colon. The gastric lesions may be adenomatous polyps but more commonly are Dfundic gland cysts. The endoscopic appearnces are similar (Fig. 2.365). Biopsies of such cysts will reveal simple cystic dilatation of gastric glands in the absence of dysplasia (Fig.366).
