Stromal cell tumor of stomach.
A 45-year year man who presented with a haematemesis. Endoscopy revealed a polypoidal tumor adjacent to the cardia and on the lesser curve of
the stomach, anteriorly. This had the appearances of a gastrointestinal
stromal cell tumor (GIST) or leiomyoma.
The patient underwent a laparoscopic excision of the tumour. The photograph
shows the opened specimen. The bulk of the tumour lies outside the
stomach. The ulcerated apex of the tumour is to the left. The patient was
home three days after the laparoscopic procedure.
