Erythema ab igne.
A 51-year-old man who presented with acute pancreatitis and who was eventually found to have a carcinoma of the head of the pancreas with obstruction of the proximal pancreatic duct. The ductal obstruction lead to severe back pain secondary to chronic pancreatitis. The patient relieved his pain with a hot water bottle - and developed the characteristic reticulate rash of erythema ab igne.
