An 84-year-old man admitted with cholangitis. He was judged too ill to undergo ERCP and decompression, hence a percutaneous decompression was performed instead. This picture shows the dilated biliary system with several large stones in the common bile duct. A catheter has been inserted. Contrast does not enter the duodenum. It was not possible to get the catheter into the duodenum and the obstructed biliary system was drained externally. The patient's condition deteriorated and he died two days later.
