study shows about one third of the stomach above the diaphragm.
The same patient undergoing a laparoscopic repair of the large
para-esophageal hernia. The stomach has been pulled out of the chest
and the widened diaphragmatic hiatus is clearly seen, with a good view up into the chest. The fundus of the stomach is to the right of the picture.
