Coexistent carcinoma and diverticular disease.
The DCBE shows an irregular stricture with a shouldered margin at its distal end in a patient who also has sigmoid diverticular disease. Carcinoma is clearly not a complication of diverticular disease, but they frequently coexist. The differential diagnosis of sigmoid strictures may be difficult, but the appearance of this lesion makes malignancy almost certain. Histological confirmation.
