Insertion of a metal biliary stent. This 69-year old female with pancreatic head cancer presented with pain and jaundice. The common bile duct was cannulated and the closed metal stent guided into position (top left, note surgical drain in situ from previous open cholecystectomy). As the stent sleeve was withdrawn the proximal part of the stent began to deploy (top right). After the sleeve was removed the stent was seen to be in good position across the stricture, both radiologically and endoscopically (bottom right and left).
