Squamous carcinoma of the anus.An elderly woman who presented with a several month history of intermittent bleeding per rectum and a painless swelling in the anal region. Initially she chose to ignore the symptoms, assuming they were due to hemorrhoids. The lesion was biopsied and shown to be an squamous cell carcinoma. Treated with radiotherapy and surgery.
