Esophageal carcinoma.A barium swallow demonstrates a short, tight stricture in the distal end of the esophagus (arrow), less than 2cm in length, with an irregular filling defect within the stricture. Endoscopy confirmed a tight malignant stricture at 38cm. Histology revealed poorly differentiated mucin-secreting adenocarcinoma.
