Congenital hepatic fibrosis.
Cut surface of a liver showing congenital hepatic fibrosis. Although morphologically alarming, with an appearance similar to cirrhosis, this 'ductal plate malformation' may be associated with essentially normal liver function for many years. Portal hypertension and its consequences are a more significant cause of clinical problems in this condition.
