Achalasia of the cardia.A 47-year-old male patient presented with difficulty in swallowing for approximately 2 years. The chest X-ray 45 min after the barium swallow shows a persistent residue of barium in the esophagus (arrows). No gas is visible in the fundus of the stomach.
