Pruritus ani.The figure shows extensive lichenification of the perianal skin due to recurrent pruritus ani. The risk factors include poor local hygiene, proctitis, leakage of mucus from hemorrhoids, rectal neoplasms or threadworm infections. Fungal infections may supervene. Causal factors should be treated.
