Acute Full-Thickness Tear Of The Gastric WallA full-thickness tear on the lesser curve of the stomach is demonstrated, with the muscle fibres clearly visible. This was found in a patient undergoing emergency endoscopy for an actively bleeding duodenal ulcer. The aetiology is uncertain but may be related to vomiting-induced trauma. The bleeding ulcer was treated by endoscopic adrenaline injection. At laparotomy, there was no perforation of the duodenal ulcer and the full thickness gastric wall defect into the lesser sac was repaired following an anterior gastrotomy.
