Radiation proctitisA 56-year-old woman with carcinoma of the endometrium underwent A hysterectomy with bilateral salphingo-oopherectomy. Post-operatively she was given radiotherapy in the form of external beam radiation (50Gy)and brachy therapy (12 Gy), following which she developed bleeding per rectum. Sigmoidoscopy revealed extensive radiation proctitis, in the form of severe inflammation, neovascularisation and ulceration.
