The audio/video component of Online Lectures is not working. How do I fix it?
If you're having trouble accessing the audio/video feature, follow these guidelines:
- You must have a sound card and speakers.
To check if you have a sound card, go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Sounds.
To preview any sound, select from the list of sounds (or the sound icon) and click the preview button.
- Adjust your speaker volume and make sure that the software volume control on your computer is set to medium or higher.
- Make sure that no other programs with audio capabilities are in use (e.g., MP3 players, Net radios, CD players).
These features tie up your sound card and make e-learning audio impossible.
- Make sure that you have Windows Media Player installed.
To verify that it is installed, go to Start/Programs/Accessories/Multimedia and check to see that Media Player is available.
- If your audio/video is still not working, there may be a firewall that doesn't allow streaming.
(A firewall is a combination of hardware and software that separates a network into two or more parts for security purposes.)
- If you've installed any new software, make sure you reboot your computer before trying the lectures again.

Is RealPlayer supported?
While we do not yet support RealPlayer, it will be supported in the near future.

Is Macintosh supported?
Medschool.com will begin supporting Macs very soon.
This will likely coincide with RealPlayer compatibility.

What can I do to access the Online Lectures if I am behind a firewall?
You can contact your systems administrator and ask for access to streaming media through the firewall.
Alternatively, you can contact GastroHep.com and they will attempt to contact your systems administrator for you.

Why does the lecture not start?
The player just says "connecting" or "searching for best server."
The lecture should start automatically. If it doesn't, try reloading or refreshing the browser window.

Why do I get errors when trying to view the lectures in Netscape?
We have seen instances where Windows Media Player would not work in a system that meets all of the GastroHep.com e-learning lecture requirements.
Reinstalling the Windows Media Player plug-in and rebooting the computer has resolved the problems in many cases.
